I promised myself a long time ago that I wouldn’t do any retail job comics in SuRe.
As far as webcomics go, it’s a pretty well-used plot device (though only because it’s a ubiquitous real life plot device). Originally I had planned to skip the details of her day altogether, but in the end acquiesced in order to better set up Friday’s comic. Strips like this give me room to insert little clues into aspects of the story not related to the comic itself. All this early scene-setting has a purpose after all. Just don’t expect too many glimpses into Riti’s work day.
I made a few light announcements, but just wanted to post here that the SuRe Store is up. I still need to load in all the prints and digital rewards, but feel free to give it a browse. Also feel free to stress test the purchasing system by buying lots of stuff.
In Kickstarter news, T-shirts will be going out soon. Hit some logistical snags when my printer broke a little while back. A replacement is on it’s way though, so hang tight. For those of you getting scarves, I have some great news. Due to the low number of eligible backers, I went to a friend of mine to hand-knit the sexy, sexy scarves. The good news is that you will get a beautiful, handmade scarf (with pockets!) hopefully before winter is over or climate change takes us all in a fiery inferno.
The bad news is that it’s costing me a lot more than I had originally figured. At some point in the future I’m going to write up an honest blog post about my Kickstarter experience. Despite my preparation, I made a ton of costly mistakes, and I’m more than willing to pass this advice on to any of you who might be considering crowd funding. All in all, I’m expecting this story-arc (mine, not Riti’s) to come to a head around tax time. Let’s see how this experiment turns out.
